MonetDB developers Sourceforge cvs has serious problems (my guess is their raid system is broken and no spare is available). This (again) raises the question if sourceforge is the appropriate place for our cvs repository. Does anybody have better experiences with other sites like sourceforge? Thank you everyone for your responses. I am working on a project on persistant storage of XML documents. Where I have simultaneously query multiple XML documents that are persistantly stored (but not cached) in a database like monetdb. I do all the querying using JDBC. I was wondering if there is any way that I can storage the XMLdocuments through my program rather than explicitly storing them using the shred_doc() before the execution of the program. The XML document cache keeps indexed copies of documents that where recently used in the fn:doc(URI) xquery function. The size of the cache is controlled using the 'xquery_cacheMB' setting in the 'MonetDB.conf' file. Hello Everyone, Is it possible to load the XML documents to MonetDb using a java application? I have been using Shred_doc() from the command line to load the documents. Is there any other method using JDBC. Hi All, I have almost filed a bug, but noticed [ 1394298 ] SQL: auto commit state is not changed correctly on commit<https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1394298&group_id=…> so I decided to discuss the problem here first. My JDBC-based application stopped working with MonetDB 4.10.0/sql 2.10.0, while it works OK with Postgres backend and it used to work with MonetDB 4.9.3/sql 2.9.3. It output "commit does not allowed in autocommit mode" exceptions. However, I am sure that application handles transaction itself, that is setAutoCommit(false) is called immediately after connection is established and the connections are never return to autocommit mode. I investigated and found out that connection is switched to autocommit mode after commit() is called. I think server should not switch to autocommit mode after java.sql.Connection.commit() or java.sql.Connection.rollback(). Though this is not explicitly defined by JDBC specs, as far as I know all JDBC drivers work in this way, so it is standard de-facto. Hello, I believe MonetDB/SQL does not currently support the SQL:2003 OLAP (aka, windowing) functions. Do you have any plans to add such support, or thoughts on how to do so? Coul this support be added via MIL, and if so how difficult do you think that would be? E.g., is it something that a dedicated end-user/devloper might plausibly attempt, or would it require deep knowledge of and hacking on the MonetDB core itself? These windowing functions were added as an amendement to the SQL:1999 spec, and SQL:2003 includes that, I think as features T611, "Elementrary OLAP functions" and T612, "Advanced OLAP functions". Apparently Fred Zemke of Oracle was the author of those SQL specs, and IBM also supported it, so the SQL:2003 syntax and behavior is probably identical to what Oracle and DB2 already have. PostgreSQL 8.0 doesn't yet support it, and I don't know if/when they plan to. Oracle calls this their "analytic" SQL functions, and has had it starting in 8i with improvements in 9i. I've used it extensively on Oracle, and although its syntax seems kind of klunky and non-intuitive, the functionality is EXTREMELY useful. Dear all, I just wanted to let you now that the only binary RPMs we will provide with the upcoming MonetDB 4.10 release will be made on Fedora Core 4 systems. On all other machines that we currently use with RPM-bases systems (SuSE, SLES & RHEL), too many tools are missing to build a full-fledged source distribution and/or all RPMs. We might consider having these machines upgraded *after* the initial release.
