The actual cost (i.e., time) to execute a query (plan) is reported when mclient is called with the "-t / --time" option; see also `mclient --help` and/or http://monetdb.cwi.nl/XQuery/Documentation/The-Mapi-Client-Utility.html . As explained in previous posting on this list, the current open-source release of MonetDB/XQuery does not use/have any cost estimation.
