I've configured my test server on a fedora x86_64 machine and now I'm able to connect to it using for example DbVisualizer and the monetdb jdbc driver from the net, also run successfully the C API example code locally.

I've updated the example at [1] to match the current code.  If you found
other locations, please let us know.
