Thats very strange. Library issues (missing functions) shouldn't disappear by a reboot. This probably means you had an incorrect LD_LIBRARY_PATH set, pointing to an old library. Could you verify that your earlier problems (with the reported crashes) weren't caused by something similar? Niels

FYI inititally I was getting !FATAL: GDKlockHome: could not create /usr /local/var/monetdb5/dbfarm/demo which I solved by changing the permissions of the specified folder following which I keep getting the above error.
