[Monetdb-developers] ODBC in Vista / Windows 2003 using Excel 2007
Hi, Thanks for the contribution of MonetDB to the community. I have MonetDB set up on a Windows 2003 32-bit OS and am having difficulty using the ODBC driver. The message I get in Vista 32-bit when I try and add an ODBC data source in Excel 2007 is the following: "Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 182 (MonetDB ODBC Driver)." That's as far as I get. I get this same error message on Windows XP 64-bit using Excel 2007. To troubleshoot this, I tried the ODBC directly from the Windows 2003 database host using Excel 2007 and I get a bit further. "Unable to obtain list of tables from the data source" I see that the ODBC is connecting to the database as, when I use Access 2007 from the same server, I can see the tables, but get an error message when trying to import or link to the tables. To me, it looks like the driver is not loading at all in Windows Vista 32-bit or XP 64-bit. But, in Windows 2003 32-bit, it is loading but unable to correctly access the data. I have done some searching on the Internet and tried a few recommendations but have not found a lot on this issue. MonetDB is a great product and I think it has tremendous BI potential if these issues were corrected. Is there active work on the ODBC driver? I would be happy to help out in any way. I do have C programming skills but no driver or ODBC experience. Thanks, -Tim
