[MonetDB-users] Problems with collections

Hello, I have some troubles to add documents to the specific collection with pf:add-doc(string uri, string documentName, string collectionName), here's what I tried : pf:add-doc("c://bib.xml","bib.xml","myCollection") <> pf:add-doc("c://book.xml","book.xml","myCollection") <> pf:add-doc("c://helloworld.xml","helloworld.xml","myCollection") <> I allways have the same error message : ERROR: __shred_into_docBAT:bat(old_10000000XX_qn_nid) does not exist!!!! with XX two numbers which change. Note that it only happens the third time I decide to add a document to a specific collection (weird is'n't it?) it means that I tried to add several documents with only one command (as it is shown in the tutorial) and I managed to put 3 documents in the collection, even one more and then I get the same error (the third time I add documments). I work on V4.18.0 from the download page MonetDB4-XQuery-i686-0.18.2.msi, windows platform. I first ran the commands through java interface but I got the same results with the MapiClient. Has anyone the same problems? Am I doing someting wrong? Thanks for your help.

Does anyone have a way of extracting the number of seconds since 1970/01/01 00:00:00 GMT from a timestamp? I have the following stored procedure (aka PSM) is but it doesn't account for DST nor the server's timezone. CREATE FUNCTION sp_convert_timestamp_to_epoch (in_ts timestamp(3)) returns integer return (in_ts - cast('1970/01/01 00:00' as timestamp(3))) / 1000;

[MonetDB-users] BAT Memory Usage

Hello everyone, We are evaluating Monet right now to store and analyze a huge quantity of data. We have several facts collection that range from 1 million row, 200 cols. to way over 300 million rows and over 10.000 columns. We are aware of memory limitations of current Monet version and looking forward to the new one but in the meantime we'd like to do some performance and load tests. In order to know which data we will be able to store, we need to know how much memory will use a BAT depending on the datatype and the number of elements we want to store in it. Is there a lineal relation between those variables (ie. 8 bytes oid, 8 bytes int => 16 bytes per element) or do Monet encode data using intervals or such? Hi, I am thinking of storing images and video files in monetdb. I have come across user defined types like url. Is it worth defining custom types for images and video files or can i just use blob instead. I know the types come in handy from the usage point of view but from the storage and performance does it matter to monetdb?
