[MonetDB-users] distinct values limit

Hi, Is there a limit on how many distinct values you can have in a column. I've created a table with 100,000,000 records and one column (varchar (16)) has 2,600,000 distinct values so when I run the count on that column - it runs forever. When I watch memory usage it goes to few gigabytes and then it drops to almost nothing, then it goes to few gigs and then it drops. Thanks. Dariusz.
