That is a good question and I didn't send the
resolution to the general list.
The strange behavior was that local connections were
ok and remote connections would block all subsequent
connections (local or remote) until I killed the
remote MapiClient.
I think there is something wrong with the "release"
version when compiled from the script. After I used
--nightly=stable or --nightly=current I was able to
connect. I had mapi_open=true with all three
versions.
I was going to recompile with --nightly=current today,
now that all is well again with www.ins.cwi.nl and
I'll let you know my results.

Was your issue regarding connecting from other clients (mapi_open=true) resolved?
I installed the latest build this morning and now I am unable to connect from other clients.
