Hello Irini, Your problems "1b" and "2a" seem to be related, and of interest, to the bugreport "[ 1914463 ] Client hangs unless somebody presses enter at server prompt" (1), which is still open. There might be a work around by setting 'daemon=yes' in etc/MonetDB.conf.
