[MonetDB-users] Is there a blocking connect to server

Hello, Is there a client API in Monet which implements a blocking connect to the Mserver (possibly with a time out). My understanding of mapi_connect is that it is a non-blocking connect. I would appreciate it if someone could kindly direct me in this regard. My thanks in advance.
