within Ubuntu port 50000 only seems to be open on the lo interface, while on the eth0 interface it is closed. Can this be an issue with mserver or is it just my iptables conf that is screwed?
to exclude port 50000 specific problems, simply try to use a different port that is open: mserver5 --set mapi_port=xyz ... mclient --port=xyz ... Stefan
