MonetDB is coherent with a file system rights.
$ touch /tmp/readonly && chmod -w /tmp/readonly
$ echo hello > /tmp/readonly bash: /tmp/readonly: Permission denied
But you can remove it:
$ rm -f /tmp/readonly ; echo $? 0
