I have data backups. But I would also have to restore the executables and libraries, _and_ revert any changes the Jun2010 install makes (new files, new directories, etc.)
The monetdb install 100% respects --prefix, right? So if I archive the --prefix directory with tar, I can roll back executables with no risk?
That is correct. (As long as you don't use a --dbfarm option to point outside of your --prefix tree.) You can double check the prefix/var/MonetDB5/dbfarm directory. It should contain your database.
