Hi Sanjoy,
For Centos make sure you have gcc, automake, autoconf, libtool,
rpm-dev-tools configure your topdir in .rpmmacros create the build
directories install the source rpm.
Then rpmbuild -ba specfile and it should build .
You need ruby to build the gems I think python installed also.

I am new to monetdb and considering using it for our Analytics need. Is there any rpm available for Centos 5 / Centos 6 RedHat 5 / Redhat 6
for its latest release or do I have to build from source ?
You can rebuild binary rpms from the source rpm for Fedora if you want to run on RHEL/CentOS. (Obviously, you need some additional packages which MonetDB relies on.)
I have built myself on RHEL6 from the source rpm, and you can grab them for your convenience.
Thanks!
Please be aware, though that the RPMs under http://www.uptime.jp/downloads/monetdb/rhel6/x86_64/ carry version number 11.15.3, and thus suggest to be the Feb2013-SP1 release, rather than the latest Feb2013-SP3 release (version 11.15.11).
