Hi, I am new to monetdb and considering using it for our Analytics need. Is there any rpm available for Centos 5 / Centos 6 RedHat 5 / Redhat 6 for its latest release or do I have to build from source ? Thanks, Sanjoy
Hi Sanjoy, we do not use Centos or RedHat ourselves, so we cannot provide RPMs for these Linux distributions. However, building the latest MonetDB release from the provided source tarball [1] should be straight-forward [2]. You can rebuild binary rpms from the source rpm for Fedora
if you want to run on RHEL/CentOS.
(Obviously, you need some additional packages which MonetDB
relies on.)
I have built myself on RHEL6 from the source rpm,
and you can grab them for your convenience.

Thanks! Please be aware, though that the RPMs under http://www.uptime.jp/downloads/monetdb/rhel6/x86_64/ carry version number 11.15.3, and thus suggest to be the Feb2013-SP1 release, rather than the latest Feb2013-SP3 release (version 11.15.11). Stefan

Hi Sanjoy,
For Centos make sure you have gcc, automake, autoconf, libtool,
rpm-dev-tools configure your topdir in .rpmmacros create the build
directories install the source rpm.
Then rpmbuild -ba specfile and it should build .
You need ruby to build the gems I think python installed also.

Please take a look.

Thanks Stefan/Satoshi/Brian,
We have been able to build it for Centos and started using it. Will also try out the Redhat rpm package.
Thanks for help,
Sanjoy
