Re: [MonetDB-users] MonetDB Installation
Thanks Stefan and Stefan :) Unfortunately, I still have not been able to install MonetDB. After installing PCRE and OpenSSL, I ran the install script again and I still get the error that OpenSSL library is not being found. This is clearly not the case as I even added it (OpenSSL's bin directory) to the system path, and am able to get to the OpenSSL prompt. Am I missing something here? Thanks again.

Isn't there something like libopenssl-dev or something like it? Am I missing something here? No, we are missing essential information to react.
The script leaves a log behind with valuable information about the installation process. If it does not provide you with the hints, or becomes too difficult to interpret, please attach it to such bug reports. Especially for compilation on platforms other then those reported on in our website, we can not guess about interferences, lack of priviliges, simple mistakes,...... the log at least may indicate why it fails. regars, Martin Kersten
Thanks again.

In Ubuntu you have to install the libssl-dev package.

Since you have the sources, you can look at the files */debian/control and in particular at the Build-Depends lines in those files. There are listed all packages that are required to build the MonetDB packages. This is what we use to create the .deb files. -- Sjoerd Mullender
