MonetDB on Windows keeps crashing
MonetDB (Feb2013SP5 & Jan2014) keep crashing on Windows Server 2008. Multiple times per week, we find the MonetDB process has crashed and needs to be restarted. Is there a log file somewhere that we can see that might give us insight into why it fails? -- ------------------------------ This transmission is confidential and intended solely for the use of the recipient named above. In the directory that contains the farm created for the database there is a merovigen.log (my spelling may be off, but there is only one log and that's the location) Sent from my iPhone

Not on Windows. On Windows there is no monetdbd (aka merovingian), so also no merovingian.log. The only hope you have is the command window in which the server was started. If things work as they should, the command window should stay open after a crash of the server. It should say Press any key to continue, and if you press that key, the window closes. You could of course also redirect the server output to a file in the batch file that is used to start the server. Typically C:\Program Files\MonetDB\MonetDB5\MSQLserver.bat.

Yeah, I've tried all that, the process just goes "poof" closing the command window as there is no errorlevel to pause. When I change the batch file to just be pause, there is nothing displayed to indicate an error. I do see many times "GDKvmalloc(nnnnnnnnn): recovery ok. Continuing.." We are running on an ec2 instance with 15GB of RAM with 4 cores and our disk footprint is ~60GB. -----Original Message----- From: users-list [mailto:users-list-bounces+monetdb=openbi.com@monetdb.org] On Behalf Of Sjoerd Mullender Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2014 11:28 AM To: users-list@monetdb.org Subject: Re: MonetDB on Windows keeps crashing -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On 2014-03-26 15:29, Brandon Jackson wrote:
