Thank you. So, the database on its own will collect selectivity statistics so that if there are multiple atomic conditions on a column, it will choose to apply the more selective one first? Thanks

thank you for your interest in MonetDB. There is no such thing as ANALYZE or UPDATE STATISTICS. They are not part of the SQL 99 standard and its implementation would not make sense. The database performance continuous analysis to optimize execution using actual properties of the tables involved.
